BF1 ULMB + SLI = Black Screen

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

BF1 ULMB + SLI = Black Screen

Post by bjevers » 17 Dec 2016, 10:47

I have the ASUS PG278Q and 2 1080's in SLI mode. I wanted to try ULMB mode with BF1. It works if I choose Single GPU in 3D settings, but when I load BF1 with SLI on, it just gives my a black screen and the monitor switches to Normal Mode Display Port at 120hz instead of staying in ULMB mode. I have the monitor set in Windows 10 to 120hz and am using Nvidia drivers v376.33. Any ideas what could be wrong? Gsync works fine in SLI BTW.

EDIT: Ok so I finally saw an error message. It was a DX error saying video card is removed or missing. Guess it might be a bug in the Nvidia driver. I'll have to see if I can get ULMB to work with other games. I normally just use Gsync.

Dont know if this will help or not

But I know I can set my settings to just gsync off and not enable ULMB in driver, yet ULMB is possible to enable on monitor
Which would make me think the computer would not even know it is ULMB if not selected inside driver
So maybe that will work
I dont have sli hence can not test for you

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried setting it to Fixed Refresh instead of Gsync or ULMB and I'm getting the same error. Gears of War 4 works fine with SLI and ULMB, so it's either a driver or BF1 problem. I've attached the error message I get with BF1.

EDIT: MY mistake GOW 4 does not support SLI yet, that's why it seemed to work. BF4 won't load either, so I am thinking it must be an Nvidia problem or a problem with my Windows 10 install.

Sorry can't help you as I dont have a sli system

But I can say for sure ULMB is a game changer :( its kind of sad as you are now forced to use vsync instead of gsync

but can't go back to gsync, been trying past days and it takes me about 5min to go back to ULMB

I deleted my BF1 settings file and was able to get into the game with SLI and ULMB as long as I use Borderless mode. If I choose Fullscreen, I get the following error. Must be a BF1 problem.
