Official Asus ROG Swift 360Hz PG259QN Owners Thread

I just got the PG259QN and my game experience is noticeably enhanced compared to with the XL2546K. The higher refresh rate really makes a difference. My first gaming session with this monitor was really a pleasure. The game I play handles 360+ FPS in most cases, I enable G-Sync, vSync=Fast, FPS cap below 360.

I highly doubt this classifies as pixel inversion. It seems more like some sort of issue with the controller and/or related electronics.

With "image retention" you mean temporal, permanent, or both ?

Hello I have a problem, when I enable gsync, it caps my refresh rate to 144hz, on a fullscreen game as well (Valorant)

Alienware AW2521H owner here. Just tried 433hz overclock and I notice frame skipping with the Blurbusters test and also when I move my mouse cursor across my desktop. If I set it back to 360hz, the mouse cursor motion is smooth and no large gaps are noticeable. Mouse is a 1000hz MM710.

Is it worthwhile to continue to use 433hz for competitive games like CSGO/Valorant?

That's largely dependent on many factors including your preference/sensitivity, and clearly it's a trade-off between near-complete smoothness and potentially improved perceived motion clarity.

I ran into display corruption after extended periods @ 433Hz so consider yourself warned. I'd have continued to run it at 433Hz if I could but don't want to risk permanent damage to its electronics. It's possible something like 400Hz would be less risk but I haven't tested it long-term.

Also, no one has quantitatively tested to see if pixel response, scanout, etc. have actually improved at the overclocked refresh rate with frameskipping.

Bought PG259QN-R, the version with reflex. I was curious if Asus took the panels that had didn't come out great and shoved them into the cheaper 800 euro version of the monitor. I kid you not when I say I opened this monitor and it has fucking 0 backlight bleed. It's literally perfect. 0.80 delta e. I tried 3 different PG259QN and they all looked like shit in comparison to this PG259QN-R. Maybe luck, maybe some bullshit. GGs I'm out lmao.

If you mean "GSYNC OFF / VSYNC OFF", remember, it's kind of a continuum. Stutters and tearing is very hard to see with fixed-Hz 360Hz; and most jittering blends to motion blur.

It's hard to tell apart 300fps versus 330fps, most of the human-visible difference is on the geometric changes to frame rates, like 20fps vs 30fps, or 200fps vs 300fps (50% improvement to frame rate).

Basically the percentage improvement you need to see a human-visible difference, generally goes up bigger at the higher refresh rates, due to diminishing curve of returns. (That said, it goes on for a long time -- retina refresh rates is beyond 1000Hz).

So 300fps and 400fps remains subtle on the PG259QN 360Hz monitors for GSYNC OFF + VSYNC OFF.

That said, beat-frequency stutters and rolling tearlines can still appear at the fps-vs-Hz threshold (e.g. 358fps at 360Hz will show two faint stutters per second during fixed-Hz 360Hz with GSYNC OFF and VSYNC OFF).

Got my PG259QN, as for the quality of it, it has some BLB spots but only noticable when my lights are off and brightness around 70+, it's worse than my 2 280hz Asus monitors I had but the brightness I play at and the lights in my room I don't notice it.
But it also has some yellow tint on the bottom right slightly that can be seen on white backgrounds which I've never seen before, seeing how rare these monitors are here I still wouldn't return it.
So far no dead/lit pixels, monitor feels smooth so I'll be testing and comparing it in the next few days.

edit: This morning the right bottom of the monitor seems a lot less yellow, maybe it was just an issue with shipping being out in rainy cold weather?

second edit: well this monitor is going back, has at least 22 lit pixels and 1 red one lol, what a shame
