Received a replacement unit. Confirmed on arrival that there were no pressure spots. However, after a 2 hour gaming session and a day later sitting idle, they have appeared.
Seems like it's an inherent design issue where the internal bracket is placing pressure on the panel.

Glad I found this thread. I also got the pressure spots on my unit after a day of use, and I'd say a sample size of 3 in this thread among users who dropped $900 on this monitor implies significant QC issues across the board. Actually disgusting that Asus is charging $900 for this trash.
