I don't think Gsync is dead yet. AMD claims that monitors will be available in 6-12 months, and companies rarely keep a deadline. Gsync could be around for a few more years at least. Here's some information I found about all the many syncs out there right now http://toptengamer.squidoo.com/top-g ...
