1. Running 144fps with a 240hz monitor without freesync will create a lot of tearing/refreshes showing the same frame, try freesync (the VRR implementation is quite good with my 5700xt).

When you speak about strobing I hope that you are not using dyac if you can't reach 240fps 100% of the time ...
