Re: Absurd stuttering/freezing and inconsistent frametimes on GeForce cards

I'm going to try a Radeon HD 7870 this evening. Turns out my husband's coworker has one that I can borrow, so that's cool. It's an older card, but it can run GTAV on medium-low settings for ~90FPS, so I will run some of the lower-end games I have been using to test these stutters and I am sure it wi...

Re: Yet ANOTHER frametime spike thread. I swear I am a reasonable person.

**UPDATE** My LG G-sync monitor came yesterday. It did not improve my pervasive stuttering problem. I set it up and played a few games over the course of a few hours; it was running great! It's seriously a whole new world. I am in awe. The higher refresh rate alone is just incredible. I decided to r...

Re: Absurd stuttering/freezing and inconsistent frametimes on GeForce cards

It looks like both of you have the same power supply. Have you checked what the 12v rail is drooping to under a full load benchmark? I have one too and I was pretty disappointed to find out a brand new corsair RM750x drooped worse on the 12v and 5v rail than a 660w seasonic PSU from 2013 that has r...

Re: Absurd stuttering/freezing and inconsistent frametimes on GeForce cards

Whoa, yea, you weren't kidding. Our situation is really similar. Even your spikes look kind of like mine (basically flat through and through until BAM! you aimed down your sight, lol). My latencymon also looks exactly like yours! Although, in addition to those two drivers, I'll also get hit bad with...

Re: Yet ANOTHER frametime spike thread. I swear I am a reasonable person.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know I have similar specs (2700x, Gigabyte Gaming K7 X370, two Samsung monitors) and on my end I was fine with Radeon GPUs but switching to either GTX 1060 or RTX 3070 caused a lot of stutters and inconsistent frametimes. It seems you have tried nearly everything and s...

Reset BIOS to stock, dont set up anything. Are spikes gone?
Yea, I did that. I also bought a new mobo after. Both resulted in the same spikes. :(

Thank you for the ideas, though!

For disposable troubleshoots, upload the video to a unlisted Youtube (easy with any existing gmail account) (or other video host) and paste the disposable link.

I’d love to see the video.
Excellent!
I really appreciate your feedback. :)

Re: Yet ANOTHER frametime spike thread. I swear I am a reasonable person.

I have seen your previous posts suggesting a cap ~3 less than hz. Be noted, the "3fps below Hz" is only for VRR. See Capping Differentials FAQ . The Low-Lag VSYNC HOWTO (non-VRR) uses a fraction-of-Hz differential. Yes, test out diametrically-opposing sync settings too. VSYNC ON in drivers (NVIDIA ...

Re: Yet ANOTHER frametime spike thread. I swear I am a reasonable person.

Preliminary Commentary Deducing from your graph, you're using 60Hz + VSYNC ON in an attempt to smooth things out as much as possible. Since you said you are buying G-SYNC (good move -- if you're fussy about single-frame drops, GSYNC does a beautiful job of fixing those), I have to assume you don't ...

Oh, God. I haven't used a forum outside of Reddit in a very long time. Forgive me for the multi-posting mess here. I miss the part where mods have to approve. My b.
