Re: Preparing for Black Friday: LG's UltraGear vs Viewsonic Elite series (27" 1440p)

Ah you're correct, it is indeed new. Same applies: if you're on an AMD graphics card and using Freesync, the Viewsonic isn't worth the premium. If you're on an nVidia card, or plan to upgrade to one soon, and therefore using Gsync, then the Viewsonic might well be worth it. There is also the Dell S2...

Re: Preparing for Black Friday: LG's UltraGear vs Viewsonic Elite series (27" 1440p)

Hi there I have the Viewsonic XG270QG - like yourself I was on the lookout for steep discounts this year, and managed to snag an Amazon Warehouse one during their regular 30% off event. So I got it, technically used, although was in perfect condition, for £394. The price you are quoting there (£475)...

Re: Is blue light filter a gimmick?

Just for clarity before I respond to some points below: I absolutely agree that overuse of monitors, artificial lights, and blue light particularly can cause real and genuine eye issues, and also mess with our circadian rhythm - there is plentiful research out there to back it up. The part I was que...

Re: Is blue light filter a gimmick?

- Long-term damage to eyes (like ultraviolet light; but blue light can still slowly harden your eye lens, requiring you to begin wearing glasses at age 45 instead of age 55) Long-term damage to eyes from screens is still very real. It's only a multiplier factor (e.g. making you wear glasses sooner ...

Re: Looking for the best strobing 1440p+ >144hz monitor in 2021

Hi Chief A quick query on the Blur Busters strobing utility - is it possible to use it for any monitor? I own the Viewsonic XG270QG, which has the KSF phosphor I believe, so I have always wrote it off in terms of strobing. However, having seen your success with the Eve Spectrum, that gives some hope...

Re: AMD Freesync on "native" Gsync monitors

UPDATE: I received my XG270QG yesterday, and I am frankly blown away by it. It is the first time in a long while (probably since I first saw my B7 OLED) where my jaw slightly dropped when I saw the monitor screen, whether a static image or in motion - the colours, motion handling and image quality a...

Re: Looking for new 1440p 27" with low motionblur.

See CRT Nirvana Guide for DIsappointed CRT-to-LCD Upgraders (2 methods). Chief, that is yet another deeply-buried, excellent article disguised as a forum post! You should maybe sticky a version of it, or turn into a full-blown article, as it summarises strobing options and considerations in the bes...

Re: Looking for new 1440p 27" with low motionblur.

I've had similar dilemmas to yourself and have done a good amount of reading recently, so will pass on my knowledge - I'm new to this monitor rabbit-hole though, so forgive me if something is not 100% right - I'm sure others will assist. Yeah my PC can push the frames, 9900KS with a 2080 Super. I m...

Re: AMD Freesync on "native" Gsync monitors

Interesting stuff then - I can't imagine how they have managed to get that GSync module to function seamlessly with AMD GPUs, which presumably spit out display instructions over Displayport that expect no module on the other end of the cable. Presumably, as well as the monitor manufacturer paying fo...
