Re: (Idea) Eliminating Light Leakage at the diffuser in Scanning/strobing Backlight with QD
Could you maybe draw some sketch to demonstrate the idea? With IR tuned Quantum Dots placed like a frame on the diffuser layer around where you know light leakage will occur near the individual LED zones you effectively "block" the light, but don't lose it. Blocking the light is the same as losing i...

Re: (Idea) Eliminating Light Leakage at the diffuser in Scanning/strobing Backlight with QD
I'm not sure if I got what you really think this would achieve but instead of converting to visible light to IR, you can simply use a black pigment to stop it. It would work the same, visible light in, no visible light out. Converting IR to visible light is much harder because you need to capture 2 ...

I'm really glad that manufacturers are planning products according to the roadmap which I presented here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3761&start=10#p67030

Re: Blurinator 9000 - Blur simulation software
Guess I can't improve it further then. Do you have any future plans with this software, updates? If yes, can we expect improvements like wider/slower response times range and a possibility of mixing ghosting with inverse ghosting (overshoot)...? Not at the moment. Frankly, even doing this GUI took ...

Re: Blurinator 9000 - Blur simulation software
What was your approach to this? RGB values have to be converted to linear scale at first. Then one can process image and sum the luminance correctly. Afterwards, gamma curve has to be applied to return to original encoding. Blurinator uses hardcoded gamma value of 2.2. I think that the difference t...

Re: Blurinator 9000 - Blur simulation software
Thank you very much for positive feedback! I'm glad that you like the tool :) There are definitely some limits since I tried to program Blurinator in a quite simple way. The source code has just around 200 lines and the blur simulation is basically done in about 20 lines. The rest is just an auxilia...

Re: New Research on Display Format to Match Perception of Reality
By the way, I think that I have found a quite simple and cheap method how to roughly determine critical refresh rate. First results suggest that ~1300 Hz is not enough but ~1900 Hz might be (at least in the tested case). I need to improve my tools a little bit and collect more points before I will a...

Re: 1000 Hz: The Journey Begins
I don't think that we are near the limit for motion blur in sample-and-hold displays but I also expect that journey to 1000 Hz might take long time. I expect that strobing/black frame insertion will become more widespread and the go-to solution for gaming. This is because generally reaching 1000 fps...

Re: 1000 Hz: The Journey Begins
Well, if you have insider information that displays with such specific refresh rates are planned then you can ask your source to give you an indication of timeline as well ;) Otherwise, you can have a look at my plot but there is no guarantee that displays with such these refresh rates will even exi...

Re: Parallel (vs Scanline) Rendering Display Research from Google
Although the paper is quite interesting, I don't think that it translates to any improvement of PC displays since they worked with displays with passive matrix and displaying only rectangular elements, not general purpose graphics.
