Re: Asus XG27AQDMG failing lagom black test

Unfortunately I couldn't get the eyestrain fixed. Even when I managed to mimic my old monitor side by side with brightness/contrast tweaks, I still had trouble looking at the glossy woled screen vs. being very comfortable looking at the old tn.
Do you think a QD-OLED with matte instead might ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG failing lagom black test
Yes I did. Unfortunately I was hoping that would be the issue but no luck.
On a side note, do you know what causes the "intensity" feeling that seemingly all new monitors have?
Also, what makes the s2716dg so tolerable for me?
Maybe it's the contrast? The s2716dg has really bad contrast (634 ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG failing lagom black test
However bright colors like white seem to bloom alot
Just to make sure: you did remove the thin screen protection film the monitor comes with, right? :P

Thanks for all the help so far. Monitor is almost perfect for me except for one last issue.
The screen just seems too intense for me to the point where it's causing eyestrain. It's nowhere near as bad as all the other monitors I've tried so far and it's very close to being useable ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG failing lagom black test
Uniform brightness is controlling whether or not ABL is used. Disabling it means ABL is enabled, and the screen can get brighter than normal, like it does in HDR mode.
This means that brightness can vary though, depending on how many bright elements are currently displayed. See:

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG failing lagom black test
Also the bottom of the screen is very dark compared to the rest of the screen, even with the uniform brightness setting on.
If you've just received the unit and have yet to do a compensation cycle, one or two can even out near black uniformity to a degree on some OLED panels out-of-box.
Is ...

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG failing lagom black test
You can load the ICC profile supplied by Asus in novideo_srgb as described here (near the bottom of the post):

As for the bottom of the screen, I don't have that issue on my unit. Did you disable the "Screen Saver" and "Auto Logo ...

Asus XG27AQDMG failing lagom black test
I recently got an Asus XG27AQDMG and the first 4 squares in the lagom black square test are indistinguishable. The 5th and 6th squares are just barely different. My previous monitor dell sd2716dg displayed all squares perfectly but it was a TN.

PC freezes for split second then resumes with laggier mouse
when I start up my PC, after about 3-4 seconds, everything will freeze and then resume as normal.
During those first 3-4 seconds before the freeze, the mouse feels really good and the screen is nice to look at.
Afterwards, it goes to shit.
EDIT: also wanted to mention that before the freeze, about ...

How to hack Dell S2716DG to reduce overdrive?
I was searching about ghosting issues on the dell S2716DG and found this old thread about a mipi port
https://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?t=2952
Is there anyway to manipulate this port to disable the forced overdrive on the S2716DG? I like the monitor and unfortunately newer monitors give ...
