it seems like it's so widespread that it might just effect all of them, just that some people may not notice it.
That's what I'm guessing, still there are some people claiming that they do not have this issue, even in 3D mode where it's usually very visible. I really hope some of them start ...

Re: I got the ROG Swift (PG278Q) -- my tests
I'd seen it before, but always assumed it was a result of temporal dithering to get closer to 8 bit colors on a 6 bit TN-panel. I was disappointed to see this on an 8 bit panel.

Re: I got the ROG Swift (PG278Q) -- my tests
The problem related to g-sync is of course new to me. I've seen similar dithering patterns on TN-screens at work but I've never used them for gaming, so I've never found them to be problematic.
My now current screen, after I've reboxed the PG278Q, is a VG248QE, which does not have this problem ...

Re: I got the ROG Swift (PG278Q) -- my tests
Second screen is exactly the same. In 3D mode it's almost as bad as getting half resolution.
I suspect that both screens have been purchased by others before and returned to the store, because of the distinct lack of removable plastic film, just two tiny bits on the back that are easilly overlooked ...

Re: I got the ROG Swift (PG278Q) -- my tests
I'll be getting a second screen to test. Feel a bit sorry for others who are struggling with availability.

Re: I got the ROG Swift (PG278Q) -- my tests
I wonder if this is related to the vertical stripes I'm seeing.
It's like every other vertical line takes an extra refresh to reach it's supposed color, but which lines alternate between each refresh.
On a still image I can, in dark gray colors especially, see the switching light and dark stripes ...

Re: I got the ROG Swift (PG278Q) -- my tests
Uh-oh. Perhaps Asus should have delayed this screen a bit more.
I was going to exchange mine, but it probably won't help. If this affects a large number of screens (all?) it will be expensive for them.

Re: I got the ROG Swift (PG278Q) -- my tests
I'm able to create weird streaky patterns using this image: http://www.techmind.org/lcd/dotinv.html in a browser,
it looks fine if it takes up more than 50% of the screen width, but anyhting less, and it turns green and light and dark bands form all the way across the screen.
I think it's safe to ...

You're not seeing any of the artifacts described in this thread?

Re: I got the ROG Swift (PG278Q) -- my tests
I'm seeing fairly strong, I'm guessing, inversion artifacts that are especially visible in 3D-Vision mode. I can see it in non-3d modes as well, mostly when scrolling fast on web pages with lots of images. It appears as alternating light and dark vertical lines.
