When I benchmark fps in csgo with 0.5 ms I always get lower average fps than 1.0 ms. Is that normal or my pc is weak (kinda is)?
Or is it like a trade off between smoothness and responsiveness?

I Am understanding this correctly that you are comparing 120hz to 144hz? Why not try same refresh rate? And yes cables play discernible role in input lag. I use certified DP nowadays (because G-Sync), previously used DVI, DP better than HDMI. DP should be best overall. Also don't forget to disable ...
