I've been trying to find a solution to this problem the entire weekend and it seems that after hours of trying I have perhaps come up with a plausible solution. Though I'm yet to do any proper testing to see that lightboost is actually on.

I've also got the same monitor (Acer GN246HL) and I also tried to enable lightboost with the howtoguide. I managed to enable 3D (screen got darker etc.) but the lightboost slider stayed locked. Motion Blur was unaffected. So that method didn't really pan out (CRU).
