Re: OLED BFI Options?

I would hate to have to get another WOLED, QD-OLED and at 32" seems like a solid fit for 8-16 bit titles. What's the real problem with WOLED panels ? I don't think that panels themselves are the bottleneck here, we just need a complete setting list to custom BFI depending on our needs. I would like...

Re: OLED BFI Options?

Any idea how much latency the upcoming 32" Samsung G8(2024) QD-OLED has for it's Black frame insertion setting, if it in fact has one, when running games at 60fps. Was planning on getting a smaller OLED for those Analogue HD clone NES, SNES, GEN & TGFX consoles. I would hate to have to get another W...

Re: External BFI Injection -- I am working with Retrotink 4K!

How much motion blur does an 8.3ms & 6.94ms persistence reduce from 100%?
I always assumed 8.3ms reduced OLED motion blur by 50% or about 50%, since 8.3 is nearly half of 16ms. Which you'd think would mean or translate to a 47% reduction in blur.

Re: PSVR 2 Cinematic Mode. Best Motion Clarity EVER

So Quest 2 has a sub 1ms motion persistence @100nits. Does that also apply to the Quest 3 as well? PSVR2 at it's best, motion wise, does 2ms at only 60nits with the VR brightness slider dropped to zero. Once you get to the 4th or 5th slider notch I've been told you're at around 110nits, but then the...

Re: OLED Vs CRT input lag when gaming

Not sure where you're getting your very specific 8.3ms number (which also happens to be the frametime of 120 FPS, so hope you're not conflating it with MPRT) , but display processing latency is entirely dependent on the model, and whether said model, be it a CRT or OLED, is doing any digital proces...

OLED Vs CRT input lag when gaming

I've always assumed that CRT SDTV's had zero input lag, but now I'm hearing that they actually have 8.3ms. Where as OLED has anywhere from 10ms(60fps) to 5ms(120fps). Is this true, or are SD CRT's actually latency free/flawless? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/images/images500x500/Sony_KD32FS170_KD_32F...

Re: External BFI Injection -- I am working with Retrotink 4K!

So, i was messing around with MotionPro High/BFI on my Roku for streaming apps like Netflix and whatever else the other day and ultimately I'm feeling pretty split. And yes, I'm aware internal OLED BFI doesn't work for 24 & 30fps content, but i wanted to get a feel for the BFI flicker(Which should b...

Re: External BFI Injection -- I am working with Retrotink 4K!

With RetroTink4K i'm assuming I'll be able to get the motion persistence down to 6.2ms for 24 & 30fps, since that's what the C1's Motionpro High is limited to, for 60fps content. Not entirely sure how that translates over, but the C1 can also get persistence down to 3.2ms when playing games at 120f...

Re: OLED BFI Options?

One thing that's irritating with the LG C1's 120hz BFI, is that it's motion Pro low, medium & high settings, again when gaming at 120fps, gradually causes this weird unnatural harsh darkening(Not talking about brightness loss) with the image, the higher your go. I'm not entirely sure if it's shadow...

Re: OLED BFI Options?

So it looks like LG CX OLED (48”, 55”, 65”, 77”) is still the king of OLED BFI? LG CX OLED was the last to have 4ms MPRT 60hz strobing and the second last to have 120hz strobing at all on OLED TV panels. Meh, the CX has around 70nits left once BFI is in effect. Useless imo. :P I'd rather find a hap...
