Re: Cheapest GPU to enable LB on the ASUS VG248QE?

Thank you for the reply, all. I didn't know how ToastyX's Strobelight worked--he had to crack their DRM? Gosh, what a trooper. I can be another confirmation for you: I bought a $50 Zotac GT 710 2GB, ran a dual-link DVI cable, and I am living the life of Lightboost! It worked flawlessly. It's a singl...

Cheapest GPU to enable LB on the ASUS VG248QE?

The FAQ here says LightBoost is an nVidia technology, so nVidia GPU’s are recommended. IIRC, the VG248QE only will do Lightboost via DisplayPort, so I do need a GPU with Displayport. A GT 1030, maybe? It's $70 new, which is a a fair bit just for Lightboost, but I'll do what I need to do! It doesn't ...

Fun quirk if you have Lightboost + a decent camera

Take a picture with a fast shutter speed (1/640th worked best on my 100Hz display): you can actually catch the monitor between refreshes!!! It's totally black, but the monitor light is on. 1/60th (sorry for blur; new camera and haven't figured out all the settings!) http://i.imgur.com/jV0Zta9l.jpg 1...

Re: Awesome a forum! [+Intro of myself, and my LCD work]

4kp60 is still the domain of Display Port MST exclusively, but hopefully we will see HDMI 2.0 compatible graphics cards and the display costs for 4kp60 and modified boards for existing displays will make it easier for more people to do 4kp60 in the future for gaming. Anyway, just know that as the g...

Re: [For 120Hz users] Ultrasmooth 120fps Gameplay Videos Thr

Niiice. It was really smooth, even on my 100Hz monitor. It took me a second to realize that this was single-player, haha. :D

FWIW, I was getting stutters in VLC (NVIDIA, though), but the embedded browser was perfect. :D

This was a super-cool story. :D

It's crazy to think that, in terms of latency, we've actually gone backwards. :( However, it feels really awesome to be a little cog pushing that giant industry a little forward. :)

Re: Input Lag of Strobe Backlights

I'd be extremely interested to see if there is an improvement with G-Sync's implementation of lightboost. keep tuned -- NVIDIA did tell all the sites (including me) to wait on this before talking about it further (than I already have -- when I broke the news thanks to John Carmack and AndyBNV). But...
