I traced some of this to a bug in NVIDIA graphics drivers, and switched graphics drivers (clean reinstall, etc). Disabling GSYNC on both monitors can sometimes help, as does switching ports (HDMI vs DP). Different-Hz multimonitors creates some weird conflicts (including deadlocks) in some graphics ...
