Anyway, after reading around more, it looks like the BenQ monitors have these strobe parameters accessible in the service menu, which is why it's possible to write a utility to change the settings.

I went from a native 120Hz TN monitor to an IPS monitor overclocked to 120Hz, however, and I honestly didn't notice any obvious difference in the amount of motion blur.
