I must love replying to myself... I've done it twice on these forums haha.
Anyway, after reading around more, it looks like the BenQ monitors have these strobe parameters accessible in the service menu, which is why it's possible to write a utility to change the settings.
My Acer XB271HU does not ...

Strobe Utility for other monitors
Hey Chief, I have a quick question... is there something special about the BenQ monitors that made it easier/possible to write this strobe utility for them? Is there any possibility of writing a similar utility for ASUS and Acer monitors, for example? The reason I ask is, the PG279Q and XB270HU ...

Re: Acer XB270hu To blurry
Did you end up getting a different monitor? I have the next gen of the XB, the XB271HU... I'm not sure if it solves your problems with ULMB mode, but I didn't see any pixel overdrive ghosting. The problem is I think I saw a lot of strobe crosstalk, particularly at the bottom half of the screen. I'll ...

Re: Alternative to ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q ?
Ouch, that's rough. I would keep returning it until you get a working one, let the retailer deal with ASUS. I had a perfectly working PG278Q until I sold it a few days ago on eBay, so they do exist. My biggest problem with the monitor was the inversion artifacts that appear on bright colors in quick ...

Re: Benefits of overclocking IPS?
I went from a native 120Hz TN monitor to an IPS monitor overclocked to 120Hz, however, and I honestly didn't notice any obvious difference in the amount of motion blur.
Thanks for your input! I did an experiment of my own at home yesterday... I have an older Alienware laptop with a 120Hz TN panel ...

Re: Benefits of overclocking IPS?
Thanks for the reply, Chief.
I am not thinking about the benefits related to being able to strobe... I'm wondering if the overall perceived blur is reduced on an IPS running at 120Hz, even if the pixel response time is mediocre (compared to TN). For example, in this post on your webpage: http://www ...

Benefits of overclocking IPS?
Hey guys, quick question (though maybe long response?)... if the pixel response time of IPS panels is fairly slow--especially compared to TN--then is there still a benefit to running an IPS panel at over 60Hz?
For example, the fastest average GtG measured at TFTCentral for an IPS was 8.3ms (without ...

Re: I got the ROG Swift (PG278Q) -- my tests
Seems like a panel lottery here?
Like some people have it and some people don't have it at all. Like the panels with that huge giant gray splotch (bad enough to rma immediately) while some other panels didn't have it at all.

... [info about inversion artifacts]
It has been an issue that has bedeviled LCDs for a long time (even IPS panels to a lesser extent). It showed up on the BENQ XL2411T, XL2420Z, ASUS VG248QE, EIZO FG2421. However, it did appear that certain monitor models has more intense inversion artifacts. I ...
