It worked perfectly for me.
I was using my desktop gaming PC.
I disconected my Ati GPU (R9 290X)
I pluged the XL2420Z on the intel's cor i5 VGA ouput and a second screen ont the intel's DVI output.
I installed the last available version of ubuntu.

I'm really interested in the differences between BBR 1.0 and 2.0 too.
Just ordered a XL2420Z instead of the Iiyama Prolite GB2488HSU for this functionality.
As it's not shipped yet, I may change for a XL2430T if it worth it.
