Let's not assume that the second giveaway will be based on number of posts. Please.

Re: Best console monitor
At the very least, a CRT is mostly always bright at some point on the screen, whereas most strobed LCDs flash the entire screen at once, then have it dark for most of the frame. I wonder whether this worse on one's eyes than a CRT ( a thread about this here ). A CRT's persistence curve is also smoot...

Re: The future of strobing display tech
That is, on a non-strobed display the object moves a large step, then freezes for the frame, while your eyes are moving smoothly the whole time, so it smears across your vision. On a strobed display, the object is effectively moving smoothly along with your eyes, but only having light flashed on it ...

Re: The future of strobing display tech
I can't see OLED motion blur at 60Hz being much better than LCD though. Somewhat better, but not much. In the end, it's still gonna be a blur-fest. Yep, quibbling over 1-2ms difference in response time when there's 16.7ms of persistence that swamps everything else. Your GAMER LCD has about 10ms res...

Re: Monitor firmware upgrade to support Adaptive Sync
I think that these adaptive-sync options generally require a frame buffer in the monitor, to allow regular updates to the LCD when the PC isn't sending them often though. Some monitors might not have a full frame buffer, or at least one with full storage (e.g. RTC) only a few lines of buffer. The RT...

Re: Ocular microtremors?
It would be interesting to do some informal tests of the things he theorizes. E.g. an image flashed for 1/80 sec should look less-clear than one at 1/40 sec, which should look just as clear as the 1/20 sec one (or maybe you'd start at 1/40; either way the idea is the same). This might not show such ...

Re: Inherent click delay found in mice.
I used to modify my mice to use the normally-closed contacts when the normally-open one started to fail (as that caused the mouse to release in the middle of a drag, very annoying). I made a simple (passive) inverter by changing the switch common to the opposite supply side, and adding a pull-up/dow...
