Some question about FreeSync LFC
Hi ! I've just picked up a 180hz monitor, pretty sweet upgrade from 75hz i must say. Also the first time i get to experience LFC. After a week i have some questions: 1. As advertised LFC only kicks in when fps is below minimum freesync floor but i have noticed that LFC seems to prefers to engage whe...

Re: Optimal Freesync Settings?
real refresh rate when using variable refresh rate / g-sync / freesync to get no tearing, you must add 1ms Vsync coupled with VRR already taken care of tearing. Only a frame cap needed to ensure FPS never reach the VRR ceeling. I also noticed games paced better ( terms of frame time ) when Vsync en...

Re: Optimal Freesync Settings?
Why such an aggressive frame cap below refresh rate ? With Vsync On only 3 frames below refresh will be suffice for proper VRR.sky_dynasty wrote: ↑21 Jan 2024, 14:24
FPS cap depends on monitor refresh rate.
240hz = 192fps
165hz = 140fps
144hz = 124fps
120hz = 106fps

Re: Optimal Freesync Settings?
I set and forget according to this recommended by AMD https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/free-sync-settings Config #1 AMD Freesync - AMD Optimized Radeon Anti-Lag - Enabled Radeon Enhanced Sync - Enabled V-Sync Off In-game Enhanced Sync is horrible terms of fluidity. Often times there'll be annoyin...

[Troubleshoot] Why Vsync had better latency than frame cap with Freesync? [FIXED]
the water is clear now Chief ! I want to make a correction for someone maybe come across this thread because now the title is rendered wrong information (it was at first place, my bad). Vsync is worst latency wise. But capping frame also poses frame pacing isssue for some games. I think it's a matte...

Re: I find Vsync has much better latency than frame cap when use with Freesync
FYI, what Hz are you? Classically the recommendation was 3fps below. The new recommendation is usually ~3% below, e.g. 360Hz should be capped about 10-15fps below. There is some anecdotal evidence that for less performant VRR implementations ("G-SYNC Compatible" and "FreeSync") the error margin may...

[Troubleshoot] Why Vsync had better latency than frame cap with Freesync? [FIXED]
FreeSync + V-SYNC + FPS above the refresh rate = standalone V-SYNC behavior, which equals anywhere from 2 to 4 frames of extra latency vs. the same scenario with the framerate within the refresh rate. Whatever you're experiencing must be specific to your configuration and/or monitor model. My base ...

[Troubleshoot] Why Vsync had better latency than frame cap with Freesync? [FIXED]
Contrary to the well explained and articulated GSYNC 101 guide, which state that the configuration of Vsync, Gsync and a few frames cap under max refresh rate of the display is the optimal terms of latency. I find the same rule does not apply well with Freesync. In my experience, Freesync works well...
