Re: G-Sync: One Year Later
I just tried Gsync on Quake Live at 144hz (com_maxfps 250) and there was this terrible mouse driven stuttering. Like, if I'm walking straight through a hallway or just strafing through without turning, no biggie, it's smooth. But when I'm turning, I can see a very distinct stutter. It was bad enoug...

Re: G-Sync: One Year Later
So what's probably better for quakelive-gsync or freesync? for quake, crt probably :D That's the thing. A CRT or a flawless strobed backlight LCD screen is really nice for Quake, but I gave it up in favor of smoothness. I don't have a way to prove one is better than the other. The game is extremely...

Re: G-Sync: One Year Later
I still didn't get Gsync to run with quakelive. Maybe eventually it will happen. Sorry, didn't check into this thread for a while. Here are the Nvidia and Quake settings I think are relevant to making G-Sync work: [*] As far as I know, G-Sync works with all "proper" fullscreen games, including both...

G-Sync: One Year Later
This is a quick note on my impressions of G-Sync / ULMB one year later. My primary game is Quake Live. Despite it being a twitch game with no frame rate issues, I've switched away from ULMB. I prefer the smoothness of G-Sync. When I'm not using G-Sync I notice how much the game tears, even with a so...

Re: 4K isn't enough to nudge broadcasters beyond 720p [yet..
Here's another angle - piracy. How does 4k affect piracy? In my mind it is easier for broadcasters to provide 4k than it is for pirates to handle it. Rendering already takes a substantial amount of time for 720p and 1080p encodes, especially since some items are broadcast in the godawful 1080i mode....

Re: G-Sync on the desktop
An arbitrary Direct3D game app with your choice of executable inside it would work great.
I read that Source games should be run at a multiple of 66, the server tick rate.

Re: G-Sync on the desktop
I haven't had much time to test the monitor with multiple games. ULMB feels better than software 2d Lightboost. This could be a placebo. At a minimum it's easier to use. One button toggle is convenient! I've started to use 250fps in Quake Live - It looks like the sound bugs I mentioned do not affect...

G-Sync on the desktop
Is there a way to run G-Sync globally, such as on the desktop? I can't seem to get it to activate with Runescape. The game is directx based and can be run in fullscreen, but G-Sync doesn't want to activate.
Also, both ULMB and G-Sync look great.
