if ure talking 'bout the 1st crysis one, it's now a pretty "old" game circa 2007, at that time a core2duo were recommanded and a core2quad were more than enough (concerning GPU, i think 8800GTX would be OK)

there's no other ways to do like so. (Mark wrote an article about it around his website)

Calibrate your monitor here http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test, at least the result would be as good as the icc profile included (better actually).
It's usually a gamma correction to be done, most of gaming preset are unrealisticly vivid or washed out.
