Look for frametimes graph. You can also limit FPS trough rivatuner (it has its own frame limiter which works similar like nvidia one) and bind it to keys /on off/ to see immediate ingame effect. Of course, for hardware elaborating, you can also watch CPU, GPU frequency, temperatures, voltage, power...
