You won't brick it. go to page 3 or 5 and follow the instructions for the umbuntu flash boot disk.

I'll probably go for it after I call the place I bought it from to check if they can do it by any chance, a slim chance, but still a chance worth taking as I think if I do it myself I could have ...

Oh lord, after reading every single comment on this post I really want to try updating my firmware, to bad I'm not man enough to take a chance on bricking my 500$ monitor. Guess I'll just keep my monitor on V1 and hope that I'll meet a person familiar with linux in the near future or man a bit up.
