Re: G-Sync horizontal lines appearing on screen

I read on reddit, it is actually normal and every G-Sync monitor does that. Is that true? Definitely not. Unless this is tearing, but the way you describe it doesn't seem like it's tearing. Oh and BTW that is with capped fps under 144, no overshot actually, pretty stable on 1 fps. Just to make sure...

Re: FPS in Game = monitor Hz

So gsync basically does the same thing that I was thinking right? Yes. It's pretty much the whole point of g-sync, in fact: exactly synchronize the monitor's refresh rate to the game's FPS. But as bonus, it keeps the frame scanout speed of the max refresh rate. In this case, the 280Hz scanout speed...

Re: Latest consensus on Freesync, Anti-Lag & Vsync

I'm not sure about freesync, but with gsync we cap to about 3 or 4 FPS lower than Hz. So on a 165Hz display, we first make sure 165Hz is actually used in the game, and then we cap to 161FPS. In fact, this happens automatically when enabling NVidia's "anti lag" method. It automatically caps games whe...

Re: ASUS VG259QM 280Hz vs ASUS ROG Strix XG258Q 240Hz

thanks I tend to play at 4:3 or 16:10 stretch resolution if the images are slightly bigger on 27inch I don't mind. I currently have a 24inch Benq monitor xl2411. You can always make your own, custom 16:9 resolutions. On NVidia, you get these automatically added to your list of resolutions if you en...

Re: FPS in Game = monitor Hz

When you cap your FPS to something that's below the max Hz of the monitor, the best solution is to keep using max Hz (240Hz in your case) but enable g-sync. In this case, this will give you an effective refresh rate of 190Hz, but the monitor's frame scanout speed will still be that of 240Hz. So you ...

Re: ASUS VG259QM 280Hz vs ASUS ROG Strix XG258Q 240Hz

27" 1080p displays (I had one) tend to look a bit grainy. It wasn't a problem for me, but everyone is different. I found that I only really noticed it on the desktop, when looking at text. In games, I didn't notice it much, if at all. However, my eyesight is not perfect :P When playing at lower reso...

Re: How can I disable GPU clocks lowering to save power?

So the "prefer maximum performance" setting in the nvidia control panel's "power management mode" option in the "3D settings" section doesn't work for you?

I merged your two threads since they seem to be the same question.

I would recommend you read the GSYNC 101 series of articles on how to cap your FPS when using gsync:

Re: Ghosting issue

Are you sure you have enabled 120 or 144Hz? On the majority of monitors, 60Hz is the default and you have to manually change it.
