Re: oled vs 120hz Plasma Motion Clarity

I got it, thanks.

4ms mprt and 50% brightness loss would be a sweet spot with current technology. Not quite CRT standard, but crisp enough with moderate speed.

Helas, they nerfed rolling scan.

Re: oled vs 120hz Plasma Motion Clarity

That's really interesting, thanks.

Why is there double image effect with BFI on the CX ?

I thought that double image could happen in two cases :

- When the GtG is too high, causing ghosting that appears as some kind of double edge due to low mprt (not an issue with oled technology)

- When the ...

Re: oled vs 120hz Plasma Motion Clarity

Yes, the hardware is sufficient today. 500 nits would be 2 to 3 times brighter than any plasma ever released.

Unfortunately it will always be limited by software as manufacturers don't want to work on it seriously.

I suppose that Panasonic, Sony and Samsung flagships give similar results.

When ...

Re: oled vs 120hz Plasma Motion Clarity

Thank you for your answer.

So it's comparable to 120hz without BFI. Too bad it doesn't match the 4ms mprt of the CX BFI, with such brightness capacity.

Re: oled vs 120hz Plasma Motion Clarity

What about G5 brightness level in BFI ?

It should be more than sufficient now with the new tandem panel.

Re: After what refresh rate did you stop feeling the improvement in smoothness?

In terms of motion clarity, the perceived blur reduction is reduced more and more as the refresh rate is increasing but still behind what a CRT can do at a moderate refresh rate.

In terms of responsiveness and fluidity, it's more subtle, but nothing comparable to jumping from 30 to 60 fps, where it ...

Re: LG C9 BFI at 120 hz

Greyed out most likely.

I don't think i've understood your issue with the C9.

My issue with the C9 is that I don't know if my BFI is throwing out frames or not. I feel like to be able to tell I'd need a high speed camera that could detect that I'm still getting 120 unique frames while ...

Re: LG C9 BFI at 120 hz

While i value clear motion like everyone else here, it's not a the cost of a severe brightness loss.

as we watch tv / games only in a fully darken room and light is a no issue for us, would the CX with full 120Hz suffice brightnesswise in a full darkened room?

In 120 Hz mode, CX and C1 ...
