I had this dilemma and the real choice is VG279QM or 259QM (amazon sometimes still has new pieces available).

look also at this one ASUS VG249QM1A! so fucking hard to decide =)

The XG249CM and XG2431 are very similar. I had both for about a month. I only liked the XG249CM a little better because it had some nice color vibrance options and crosshairs. I was not huge on the strobing on the XG2431 because its pretty dim. In terms for raw performance though both monitors are ...
