Re: Dough's upcoming OLED monitor will be the first to support 240Hz BFI

Dough is a company that knows the things people want and use it to scam those desperate enough. They knew people were begging for Glossy Gaming Monitors and would be desperate enough to buy it because for decades we have been stuck with nasty matte coating. So they used the opportunity to scam thou...

Re: OLED 240Hz & 240 FPS = how much blur reduction?

https://blurbusters.com/persistence-vs-motion-blur/ https://blurbusters.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/motion_blur_from_persistence.png This chart is about SLOW motion. Double the blur to simulate the real image quality in faster motion. IPS is too slow to squeeze everything from the 360Hz so this ...

OLED 240Hz & 240 FPS = how much blur reduction?

As per the title of the thread, I would like to know what % of blur reduction you get on a 240Hz OLED monitor if you can get constant 240 FPS. 24%? Or, since I have often read that a 240Hz OLED corresponds approximately to a 360Hz IPS, 36% blur reduction? Or none of these percentages is correct? I'd...

Re: Seeking clarification on OLED / BFI...some beginner questions

Do you mean 480p input, not 480p output, I am confused? If you mean output, it's a non-sequitur. 480p is too low resolution for CRT filters. 4:2:0 is at the high resolution level, not the original console resolution level, so 2560x1440 would mean 1280x1440 chrome, despite just being 480p scaled, an...

Re: Seeking clarification on OLED / BFI...some beginner questions

Yes, you can use PC input into Retrotink 4K, but there's some edge cases involved. You can do 1080p60 input, 1080p120 output. Or 720p60 input, 720p240 or possibly 1080p240 output. There's RAM bandwidth limitations. There is a possible undocumented 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 chroma setting that may allow 1080p6...

Re: Seeking clarification on OLED / BFI...some beginner questions

B1) Depends on the resolution of your gaming If your retro content is 480p or less, then 240Hz is sufficient for most retrogaming needs. As a rule of thumb, most OLED looks clear up to (2 x MaxHz) pixels/sec with or without BFI 240Hz OLED = Very clear scrolling up to 480 pixels/sec 360Hz OLED = Ver...

Re: Seeking clarification on OLED / BFI...some beginner questions

I am assuming you're looking for an OLED monitor. It's correct. And yes, I'd like to get a 32" 4K OLED even if it's "only" 240hz, unless the 27" QHD @480hz offers an important and perceptible difference regarding motion clarity/blur reduction...which you kindly confirmed to me is not the case for r...

I just split the provocative parts (discussion between me and Supermodel_Evelynn) to Controversial Debate: Is 360Hz Worth It?.
Ok :D

I'm waiting for your reply to my questions, then. Of course, when you get the time/are willing to. Thanks again!

Re: 60hz BFI on OLED

Reading some of these posts I was wondering three things and I was hoping someone would be able to confirm them. I'll try, but keep in mind that everything I write below is only what I have read/understood and my personal opinion. 1. Since the BFI on OLED is just adding a black frame every other fr...

Re: 240 Hz ULMB 1 vs 360 Hz

I'm not an expert at all, so take my words with a grain of salt but: ULMB often worked poorly so I assume you want to consider ULMB 2 and/or the new Pulsar tech (basically a renamed ULMB 2), in which case, for what I read, 240hz (on a decent panel) +ULMB 2/Pulsar should be vastly superior to a "pla...
