Re: oled vs 120hz Plasma Motion Clarity

You're welcome. Yes it is, except you have higher latency than native 120 Hz. Imo we are slowly reaching brightness levels that allow reducing motion blur via BFI or rolling scan while still having a good HDR presentation. When enabling Motion Pro High at 60 Hz on the LG CX/C1, you get 150 nits peak ...

Re: oled vs 120hz Plasma Motion Clarity

What about G5 brightness level in BFI ?

It should be more than sufficient now with the new tandem panel.

I always play on the G5 at 60 Hz with BFI (Motion Pro) on. It has 8.3 ms persistence by doing standard BFI (no rolling scan). The HDR is still impressive imo. Should be around 1200 nits ...

Re: Image artifacts for BFI frequency != content frequency

Thanks for the replies!

Question for Chief: Do I understand you correctly that this non-natural divisor is represented in a time-averaged manner (one time 2 double images, another time 3 double images for your 24/60 example, so on average it's 2.5 double images) and not in a spatial manner because ...

Image artifacts for BFI frequency != content frequency

Hi!

I know about the double image effect when running 120 Hz BFI over 60 Hz content. What is if the BFI runs at any other frequency other than exactly 2 times the content frequency, like for example 62 Hz or 75 Hz where the division of both frequencies does not result in a natural number?

What ...

Re: Coming from an XB271HU, trying to decide between Mini-LED and OLED...

I am using a 5 years old LG CX OLED as a PC monitor and I cannot find any burn in. Of course this is just an anecdotal example and is not representative, but I think burn in is a highly exaggerated issue. You can find longevity burn in tests from Rtings. That might be the best evidence you can get ...

Re: Glasses to emulate backlight strobing? [Mechanical Strobing Project WORKS]

Thanks for all the information and ideas! I'd like to build a prototype of a mechanical shutter.
I have one question about the number of slits: Is there any disadvantage in using more slits? For example why not using 60 slits, then we need just 1 rotation per second and it is maybe easier to setup ...

I'm surprised that Chief hasn't shown interest in this topic, as this is a interesting question!
The closest thing I've come across in terms of this subject is this topic: https://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10050

How does the wave form of the BFI signal impact motion blur reduction?

When you look at Rtings measurements of BFI on let's say current OLEDs, the BFI signal is almost a perfect square wave.

What would happen in terms of the perception of motion if the BFI signal would have a slower rise / fall time (more a Sinus wave than a square wave)

I'd really like to understand ...

Re: Programmable HDMI devices for reducing motion blur?

I thought about manipulating the HDMI input to reduce motion blur like modern TVs do, like displaying a frame via Quick Frame Transport at half the time and filling the other half with a black frame.
