Re: New iPad has 120Hz + Multiple Refresh Rate!
I totally agree with all the guy wrote in the last link there about it being way overkill to increase resolution any more, at least for non-VR scenarios, and that framerate / refresh rate going up to 120 is the best big thing. I do wonder what those 10 inch panels will have: 10-bit? HDR? WCG? What s...

Re: Custom OLED Rolling Scans -- Custom Built OLED Monitor
I'm more in favour of boosting refresh rates of OLEDs past 120hz than reducing MB via cutting their lumens and pixel lifespans through low persistence, although I admit it certainly helps boost clarity for VR helmets. I'd rather interpolated 240hz full-persistence with decent HDR, HDR is fundamental...

Re: New iPad has 120Hz + Multiple Refresh Rate!
I wonder if the new Ipads will use LCDs or OLEDs. I hope LCD, if only for the fact that it will be dirt cheap to buy replacement panels on ebay for them and build 4K / 5K gaming projectors out of them, with 120hz! Sweet. I might get back into the DIY game if / when that happens. It's pretty much poi...

Re: HDMI 2.1 announced: 48Gbps, VRR support, HDR
Xbox One Scorpio will have an HDMI 2.1 output, support VRR: https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1491972609 It's coming out in a few months apparently. So, 2Q 2017. It doesn't need to support more than 4K @ 120hz with 10-bit HDR, or perhaps 12-bit HDR (in 444), and neither wil...

Re: Apparently 3D Vision should work on ALL G-Sync monitors?
I've got the Acer XB270HU, I wonder if it'll work. Then again, I usually game on my projector, and...I avoided purchasing Nvidia 3D stuff due to poor support. TBH 3D support via either LCD or LCoS is almost always inferior to DLP and I'd rather 60hz per eye via SBS on my DLP (0 pixel transition time...

Re: iiyama PL2202W can reach 74Hz, then it shows a warning
72hz or 71.928hz is better than 75hz because it's an even multiple of 24 (or 23.976). Which is the standard film cadence.
Stick to 72hz, I say.

Re: So it looks like I've got 185Hz at 1920x1080!
240Hz or not worth it  Only half kidding. 240Hz is the only refresh rate next to 120Hz that can accurately reproduce 24/30/60 FPS content. Hmm, curious why you would say this. With 24p and no frame interpolation, all you need is 3:3, 4:4, 5:5 pulldown and you're done. Perfect 1:1 repro of ...

I think VRR / G-sync / Freesync is a great innovation but I think eventually people might realize that dynamic frame reprojection might be better, even for non-VR games.lexlazootin wrote:That's why everyone needs adaptive sync

Stunning.
Hopefully more people will start realizing that < 120 fps is too low for adequate image clarity.

Re: Just remembered that in 2013 I predicted G-Sync by chanc
Enthusiasts' ideas are often incorporated (without credit let alone renumeration) into companies' product lines, surreptitiously. Although I do think VRR has been supported by eDP for laptops for many years, only for saving power instead of gaming. VRR both makes sense and doesn't. I write games VR ...
