Re: HOWTO: Quick Frame Transport (QFT) - Large Vertical Totals (reduce lag, reduce crosstalk)

RealNC is correct here.

Large VBI (vertical blanking interval) is a bigger timing jitter safety margin to hide a VSYNC OFF tearline between refresh cycles.

Re: I bought a fake 600hz monitor, help.

Instead, your newer photos shows a fake 600Hz, showing only 240 out of 600 cable-delivered refresh cycles per second.

If I was scamming people like that, I'd sell this as a feature. "Display-based Fast Sync up to 600Hz" or "600Hz-Ready" :P

Incidentally, it's probably a QFT-friendly 240Hz ...

Re: Help for a Musician & Producer

What confuses me is I have no problem using the iPhone 13 or my CarPlay touch screen in my 2022 Chevy Malibu, nor self-checkout kiosks at CVS and grocery stores. I also could use an iPad Pro at Shake Shack to order until they updated the app and operating system and now I get the same motion ...

Re: Resolution

Your web browser is not at 100% zoom so it's off-by-one rounding behavior at certain zoom ratios.

It's off by one for me even at 100%. This appears to be due to Windows 10 DPI scaling (125% here.)

Yes, it's a combination of (browser zoom & Windows DPI), not just browser zoom.

Web browsers ...

I actually have no idea why is there a second pulse. If they managed to pull off variable amplitude (pulse height), then why not let the main pulse do all the compensation? Chief, you here? May you chime in?

Emergency flicker mitigation.

When a SINGLE frametime goes too long (the screen is ...

Re: I bought a fake 600hz monitor, help.

I checked the monitor on your advice and the first digit at the initial speed of 480 Pixel/sec is 3.3ms (when turning on the 600Hz refresh rate), on my old 240Hz monitor the initial figure is 4.4ms.

You can't use screenshots or photos for this -- you need to eyetrack your eyes and speed up the ...

1000hz UFO TEST FAILED on this monitor in edge browser ;).
I have some instructions at www.blurbusters.com/testufo3 for reviewers who are trying to optimize for 1000Hz.

It can be a big challenge.

<Chief Blur Buster Left Field Thinking>

I am wondering, if maybe, you're unusually sensitive to display scanout behaviors rather than VSYNC tearing.

Question:
- Is the tearing you see a sharp line? (That's VSYNC OFF tearing)
- Is the tearing you see ...

Now that this thread was recently bumped up, and I missed replying to this -- so here's a "better late than never" reply.

By purchasing any OLED display, you're already forfeiting the quest of eye comfort.
Not necessarily. I also want to mention that it varies between different humans. You MAY ...

Re: Help for a Musician & Producer

Anyway. I’m all ears for suggestions but it seems to me this Apple Studio Display or the Eizo CS2740 may be my best bet. I’ve tried to go left-field, Chief, but OLED is a no-go, at least in its current form.

You did a good spread of display types.

I can confirm you're a definite population ...
