Re: Does matching polling rate to monitor Hz make sense or no?
Theoretically Possible: Custom Frame Rate Capping Software That Syncs To Poll Rate If you are a software developer, there is a solution Now, there are potential workarounds, like writing a custom frame-rate capper that uses a mousehook ( LowLevelMouseProc callback and the WH_MOUSE_LL event). Basica...

Yes, that is impressive. Now 22 votes in less than 24 hours. The RTINGS-suggest-monitor page now is 39 votes. Lots of fans of Blur Busters, obviously. We could ask them to do some extra pursuits. I believe they would do it since its specifically tuned for bfi and that sets it apart from others. We ...

Re: [Blur Busters Approved XG2431 - 24" 240Hz IPS] ViewSonic unveils monitors for 2021 (The new 240Hz 24" king?)
They won't know how to test it they way it's intended to be used. this monitor essentially needs custom resolutions with large VT's for it's strobed modes to function adequately. The good news is you don’t need Strobe Utility or Large VTs. XG2431 has vastly better 240Hz strobing out-of-box than XG2...

Re: Is motion blur directly related to strobe visibility or not?
Finally, it dawned on me that if I understood correctly, a 7680x4320 display at 960 Hz will give the same level of blur as 1920 x 1080 at 240. From a pixels-of-blur, yes . From a physical-inches-of-blur, no . Confused? Here’s an explanation Hz will determine physical distance of blur on a sample-an...

There are some ways to trick FreeSync to work under Windows 7, but information is very limited — for example, this YouTube video:

Re: Why isn't the size of TVs (non-modular) growing?
Sizes have grown since the small TVs of the 1940s which were only a few inches -- usually less than 10 inches in those days! And CRT tubes never grew beyond about 40" by the 1990s. In that context, direct-view TV size growth over 30 years from 1990s to 2020s was scorching fast compared to the 50 yea...

Re: ASUS PG259QN hack for single-strobe ULMB 50 Hz and ULMB 60 Hz
Would be nice if we could combine 2160p resolution with 60hz single strobe. Did anyone try it and was successfull? I have tried nvidia control panel and toasty, but cant get an output if I set resolution to 2160p. Atm I use Nvidia's DSR to get 2160p internal resolution but I can't hold 144hz for UL...

GPU coprocessing for virtual reality (remote rendering + local reprojection)
On March 11th, 2021 on HardForum I published one of my brilliant ideas (that other VR scientists have also come up with too, which I've later learned). So several are having the same kind of idea already; This article is for people who are familiar with Oculus ASW 2.0 -- a frame rate amplification t...

Re: Monitor turned off - showing picture with light
Some monitors sleep mode turns off only the backlight, but keeps the LCD active. It's only about a couple wats of power to keep a panel alive, which is useful for instant-wake. (Though 360 Hz may use more power). I am curious how much power standby uses though. Possibility #1 I suspect there is mult...
