Re: Got a xl2411z monitor and there is a CD

The main bulk of the disk, over 50%, is made up of Adobe Reader install.exes for various languages.
There's also:-
Game Mode Loaders App(haven't used myself)
Display Pilot App(have used but is buggy and resets itself every time you reboot or launch it so uninstalled it, good for initial set-up ...

Re: BENQ XL2411Z Firmware v2

G'day!

Just had a look on my 2411z box, mine was a V1 f/w with the following info:-

Code: Select all

Rev 00-120-BA. Manufactured date January 2014
so I might guess in saying the new revision info you have has the new V2 f/w on it, need some more people to take a look at their boxes though!

Re: News on the ROG Swift (PG278Q)

Lol, the thread here:-
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18607925

the owner, Gibby, does say it will drop to £669 after the initial batch and there's enough to go around
Unfortunately, OCUK are known for shameless price gouging so I expect it may end up being around the £569 ...

Re: News on the ROG Swift (PG278Q)

Pre-order price of £719 announced yesterday here in the UK at OCUK, glad I didn't wait as it is clearly a complete rip-off. Even at £519 I wouldn't have bought 1, that Asus ROG badge ain't worth that much by a long shot.

Re: Firmware upgrade using Linux tool, requires no hardware

I would guess you didn't the i2c tools loaded using the commands:-

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install i2c-tools subversion libpci-dev
The 1st command outputs nothing

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe i2c-dev
but the 2nd should give you a list of buses

Code: Select all

sudo i2cdetect -l

Re: Firmware upgrade using Linux tool, requires no hardware

Thank you pipomolo42 for this awesome guide!
My XL2411Z should arrive on Saturday so will be flashing it then if it's V1 like Amazon seem to think it will be. I haven't used Linux since the early 90's at high school but I can make sense of your instructions I think  Your guide is definitely ...

Re: Moving from CRT to Eizo FG2421 [EIZO's strobed monitor]

Cheers for that info Spacediver and Chief, unfortunately it is now packed up ready for collection by Amazon, sadly.

The first thing I did when I got it was change the color temperature to 5000k as it is extremely blue, also change the brightness to 30, contrast to 45 and gamma at 2.2.

I did only ...

Re: Moving from CRT to Eizo FG2421 [EIZO's strobed monitor]

Hey Vega, well the slight headache I had on Monday night has now turned into a week long migraine, the first migraine I've ever had in my life. After going to bed Monday evening my eyes were strobing in my head onto my eyelids and it felt like my optic nerves were pulsating through my head down the ...
