Necroing an old post, but I think the issue has come relevant as I've seen a boat load of people having the same trouble with their AOC's. Happy endings for me in this story, as the AOC-service was able to get mine fixed! (took them long enough tho )

Please check the monitor OSD and see if there is an option for "Instant" mode or Thru mode or anything similar.
You have nothing to lose and it's worth checking. There could always be some sort of firmware bug where that mode is disabled. I'm pretty sure that 144hz *requires* such a mode to be ...
