Re: Very bad news about VR. They're chosing HDR over motion quality

I think the reason that 90 hz is the lowest refresh rate might have to do with their eye tracking. It might not work so well at say 80 hz which I wish was an option over the awful reprojection.

Re: Very bad news about VR. They're chosing HDR over motion quality

I can't believe Sony left the default Brightness/motion this way. Everybody is getting a far crappier impression of PSVR2 because of the out of box higher motion persistence. It's like gaming through the eyes of somebody that has one too many drinks, how is that enjoyable? And while lowering bright...

Re: Very bad news about VR. They're chosing HDR over motion quality

I think PSVR2 is using double-strobe That's just a reprojection artifact. Long-term, reprojection needs to also function on local object movements (e.g. hand controller tracking etc). Low persistence sample-and-hold via flickerfree brute Hz combined with large reprojection ratios would be vastly su...

Re: Very bad news about VR. They're chosing HDR over motion quality

Reprojection should not necessarily add motion blur, at least when using Oculus (erm, Meta) ASW 2.0 algorithm. I wonder if the reprojection used by PSVR2 has more flaws. I don't have a PS5 and PSVR2 to analyze this, but perhaps it is something I should at least do a visit to (e.g. a store) to analy...

Re: Very bad news about VR. They're chosing HDR over motion quality

The motion blur is killing me on the psvr 2. I was on the verge of returning it but my man Bradley is saying we can crank down the brightness level to increase black frame insertion and lower persistence! I‘ve already put the headset away for the night but I’m trying this tomorrow. Yes, reducing br...

Re: Frametime spikes in Fortnite...

Sorry to bump this thread but I too have noticed micro stutter frame time spikes. After playing the ps5 version my conclusion is asset streaming causes these stutters which was brought up as a possibility on page 1 by the consistently excellent jorimt . The ps5 ssd absolutely fly’s and apparently on...

Re: Do you have a Virtual Reality Headset? (Oculus, Rift, Valve Index, Quest, HTC, Pimax, Reverb)

A huge update is coming out which adds 120 hz support (this will be awesome for standard pc games through virtual desktop) as well as "air link" which will be the official wireless soultion to play your pcvr games wirelessly: Oculus today announced new features coming to Quest 2 in update v28, inclu...

Re: Do you have a Virtual Reality Headset? (Oculus, Rift, Valve Index, Quest, HTC, Pimax, Reverb)

I want to create a custom resolution for 90 hz for virtual desktop pc games. I'm using a lg c9 at 1440 p 120 hz, but I will need to use toasty x CRU to create a custom resolution since the edid doesn't have 90 hz at any resolution as far as I can tell. What exact refresh rate is quest 2 at when usin...

Lies beneath is 20 % off right now. I’ve been waiting for this to go on sale. It’s cross buy too as their is a rift version, so if you want to play this on virtual desktop that is an option.
