Re: Benefits of overclocking IPS?

Will G-sync 144Hz monitors be able to handle custom refresh rates like 48Hz, 50Hz, 55Hz, 72Hz and 96Hz?

Can ULMB be activated on a custom refresh rate?
If so, what is the lowest refresh ULMB will work on?

Re: Temporal Aliasing (Tessive Time Filter)

Thanks ldmelsa. This is exactly what I ham about to do. ;) I already bought (ebay) Active 3D Glasses and Signal Generator with PWM (resolution 0.01Hz) two weeks ago. Just waiting till they arrive (from china). http://www.liquidcrystaltechnologies.com/products/LCDShutters.htm Nothing special here, ju...

Re: Mechanical shutters for motion blur reduction & 3D [work

Mark, May I suggest to include the strobe rate == frame rate == refresh rate law in the Artifact 101 section of the main site.? People need to know that when the frame rate (assuming its an even division of the refresh rate) is not equal to the strobe rate, the picture will look like PWM artifacts o...

Re: any chances to get crt motion quality at 60hz in the fut

Scientifically, for the ultra clear arcade-smooth-look, you want: strobe rate (flicker rate) == frame rate == refresh rate. Definitely. I've tested with 24 + 2*BFI @ 72Hz. Every frame of the movie was shown only 1/3 of the time (41.7/ = 13.9ms) the rest is 2 black frames. Smoothest video experience...

Re: DIY Backlight Strobing [must read for experimenters!]

P.S. Because of the change to mechanical shutters, I truly think this belongs in a new thread, if you don't mind me moving these posts. The funny thing is that this is technology that has been worked on for over 100 years but few people understand how motion clarity went out of the window over the ...

Mechanical shutters for motion blur reduction & 3D [works!]

I'll continue here instead of creating another thread. I have made a low-tech shutter whith a PC case fan with the blades cut off, custom cardboard shutter, pot to control the speed, I hold it in front of my eyes. ... till my electronics arrive. I calibrated the speed with the Test UFO site. ...

Re: DIY Backlight Strobing [must read for experimenters!]

Anyone knows how an LCD VBlank signal actually looks like? Is it normally High and the actual blanikning intervals are low (dips) like on a CRT? Or is it normally Low with short Highs like a clock pulse? Accelerated scanout isn't needed for continuous backlight. It does nothing to speed up individua...

Re: DIY Backlight Strobing [must read for experimenters!]

In my case I'll be using the backlight strobing only in Movies, rarely I play games. A movie frame is 24 and my monitor is 72Hz (OC'ed). So, I shouldn't care for long vblank time, as 3 at the frames are exactly the same (no pixel change). I'll just set the stobe so the center of the first frame is c...

Re: DIY Backlight Strobing [must read for experimenters!]

Mark, I have read the Electronics Hacking. But still I need more info about Blanking Interval. I don't seem to understand where this Blanking occurs, and how does it look. The bigger the better, because it will allow you to hide more of the pixel transition in total darkness, Isn't the 1080 lines al...
