Re: I have decided to quit fps competitive gaming and focus on other stuff

The real fix for network lag is moving wherever the servers are. Beyond that, make sure there's always some headroom on your network connection. For non-network lag, the big thing is using an in-game framerate cap, with either variable refresh rate, or vsync off. To make improvements beyond that, yo...

Re: Strange input lag behavior

Use an in-game framerate cap. Basically, imagine you have a bottleneck on the highway that can pass 1 car per second. If more cars than that try to use the highway, they back up and you get a traffic jam, where each individual car has to wait a lot longer for the cars in front of it to get out of th...

Re: PS/2 with modern systems

If your keyboard and mouse have 1khz polling I wouldn't bother. If it's a lower polling rate you might see some improvement from PS/2.

Being an interrupt is good, but the data rate is much lower than USB, so the time it takes to actually transfer a PS/2 sample becomes an issue.

Should probably also include microsecond timestamping of mouse clicks, so you can interpolate a click location between two sensor reports. Or if the most recent click was after the most recent sensor report, extrapolate from the prior velocity.

It includes sensor-side microsecond timestamping.

Re: Kickstarter screen - any good?

What do I think about the specs? Some important ones are missing. Two of them don't even specify a display interface, one claims "universal compatibility" which is actually impossible, and none of them specifies refresh rate, which is something you know way before you start manufacturing something. ...

What tech? The one that looks LEAST like a scam is still claiming it's supposed to ship two years ago.

Re: Kickstarter screen - any good?

My rule for kickstarters is to make sure the funding goal is high enough to actually get the product manufactured. For example, if you took $35k pledges to design and build a car with a funding goal of 1M, that's a hard no. If you increased the funding goal to $1B, that's a much higher confidence, b...

Re: Would something like this work for me?

This will have no beneficial impact on any kind of lag.

If you want to know if it's effective for surge protection, you'll need to find a review that specializes in that type of device, with teardown and circuit analysis.
