Re: Display frametime vs input latency.

Thanks for the reply! I'm measuring with 240fps camera with very first mouse movement (Even just a millimeter) vs any response on my screen, anywhere, doesn't matter what spot. In which case shouldn't the average that i would be observing 4.16ms? In which case my tests seem to be fairly accurate; My...

Display frametime vs input latency.

Hi, few questions; 1. If a 120hz screen has a frame gap of 8.33ms, doesn't that mean when testing button to pixel latency, that the average response time solely for this aspect is actually 4.16ms? 2. And doesn't the same hold true for 1000hz mouse polling? The reaction can be anywhere from 0 to 1ms?...

Re: Timer Resolution app worth using ?

Sorry if necro, but the timer affects the internal fps limiters of at least a few games I've tested; CSGO, Rainbow and most cryengine based games. It seems to: 1. Reduce frametime variation 2. Increase accuracy for the fps limit setpoint. Another tidbit: Ive seen the effect of 1.0ms doing 110fps wit...

Re: Cap your fps people (battlenonsense)

Known for years really. He does some good testing, but not always thorough. For instance the 'Game mode' setting allegedly took 5ms input lag off, but never did more testing with it or any follow up. We don't know what he was all running on his system, background apps, etc. I find it hard to believe...

Re: Comparing bare-bones Win7 vs 10 install

This applies to 7, 10? (And which builds, if it matters?) Can't guarantee it for 7 (tested on Windows 10 only), but knowing what I do, I'm pretty sure the OS version/build shouldn't matter here; if G-SYNC borderless/windowed mode bypasses Aero/DWM composition by forcing an alt flip mode at the GPU ...

Re: Comparing bare-bones Win7 vs 10 install

I ment that Windows 10 has forced DWM V-sync, and in any case 1 frame of delay when using Gsync (full) windowed. FYI, my tests have shown that DWM may indeed not introduce 1 frame of lag in borderless or windowed mode with G-SYNC active: https://www.blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-an...

Re: Comparing bare-bones Win7 vs 10 install

If anyone is willing to do these kinds of tests in such depth, I'm interested in poring over those charts. I would if i had the tools. 'I fast reaction' could volunteer, he seems to have it all covered. If he is willing of course. I think QuakeWorld can be a good game to make these tests. It has a ...

Re: Comparing bare-bones Win7 vs 10 install

For how you should do the input lag test, i will leave that answer to Chief or someone else. This is not placebo. Please do not pass these things off as placebo where it's obvious a person has gone to the effort to create two test environments and can very well feel the difference between the two. ...

Re: Comparing bare-bones Win7 vs 10 install

barebones win7 is more responsive than even a stripped 1809 LTSC win10 1809 currently has some stupid new timer functionality, here is what you should do to fix it + responsiveness. might worsen latency on ryzen: hpet disabled in bios bcdedit /set useplatformclock true bcdedit /set disabledynamicti...
