Re: Successful Overclock 60Hz -> 180Hz of Laptop LCD!
How did you unlock the pixel clock since AMD pixel clock patcher doesn't work on my laptop.I can do 106hz with no artifacts after cleaning the video cable contacts with isopropyl alcohol (previously it would glitch when too much action is on the screen). If I try anything with a pixel clock higher t...

Using Windows 10 instead of 7 the brightness can be changed

Re: Blur reduction possible on any monitor via software ?
Even in the 60hz video you can see 3 frames in a single exposure. Yep. This is often a problem for panels with overdrive that is not strobe-quality. Just taking a static photograph (not video) with an exposure of a tiny fraction of a refresh cycle (e.g. 1/500sec photograph), and if you see multiple...

Re: Blur reduction possible on any monitor via software ?
Looks like overdrive isn't set high enough. Even in the 60hz video you can see 3 frames in a single exposure. The LCD has no overdrive option. Is there a timing or setting which I can use to reduce the ghosting.I've hit some limitations of the Linux DRM (cannot execute something on VSYNC in kernel m...

In the video the backlight isn't flickering it's just on normallySparky wrote:Kinda hard to tell what's the backlight flashing, and what's the test pattern. Maybe try the moving photo test?

Re: Blur reduction possible on any monitor via software ?
Instead of using long VBI will sleeping before the strobe flash work ? By asking this question, it indicates you may not fully grasp the "law-of-physics" problem. So I'll attempt to explain diagrammatically soon. First, view this high speed video of http://www.testufo.com/flicker: https://www.youtu...

Re: Blur reduction possible on any monitor via software ?
How should I flash the backlight like how many milliseconds after VSYNC should I turn back on the backlight Remember VSYNC is part of the blanking interval (called VBI -- Vertical Blanking Interval) which is the time period between the last pixel row of the previous refresh cycle, and the first pix...

Re: Blur reduction possible on any monitor via software ?
No guarantees. Monitor firmware not designed for strobing may still mess timing up enough to cause it to flicker. Or it might do things like poll the register only once a refreah cycle, making it impossible to get sub-refresh-cycle persistence. But give it a try, it would be fun to see how determin...

Re: Blur reduction possible on any monitor via software ?
I'll first write a driver to strobe it at 60hz and then add VSYNC support to it since even with cross-talk if the timing and everything is write it shouldn't flicker.

Re: Blur reduction possible on any monitor via software ?
I'll try writing a kennel driver to do this.Do I need to flicker it during the monitor refresh or can I just flicker it like a diy strobe backlight (since it might be hard to hook into Radeon driver for the VBLANK signal and will require kernel recompilation). Will a tickless kernel be enough or do I...
