Re: Might be noticing a very brief Freesync artifact on Alienware aw2521hf

I uninstalled the latest driver and used Windows update to install 456.71 and the glitch still happens.

Re: Might be noticing a very brief Freesync artifact on Alienware aw2521hf

If it is happening at the same frequency (i.e. not less frequent at higher min Hz), then there may be some other issue -- or even possibly a warranty defect (if it does not happen to other AW2521HFs) -- how long have you had the AW2521HF? I have had it since the end of May this year. It's hard to g...

Re: Might be noticing a very brief Freesync artifact on Alienware aw2521hf

Thanks for the video! This happens to a few FreeSync panels in very rare cases. This might be a VRR range excursion (refresh rate accidentally going below min Hz). FreeSync has more problems than native G-SYNC (hardware-based repeat-refresh logic on monitor-side) with below-VRR accidental range exc...

Re: Might be noticing a very brief Freesync artifact on Alienware aw2521hf

I'm bumping this post because I managed to capture what I'm talking about here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kM25QykH-Vc For some reason this game (Final Fantasy XI) triggers the anomaly fairly often, so I pointed my phone at the screen and filmed until it happened. Sorry for the poor quality vid...

Re: Does Freesync work on Windows 7 with Radeon graphics cards?

After watching the video and looking at the description, that driver is meant to increase the refresh rate to 144Hz from 90Hz, not to address Freesync working in Windows 7. It also doesn't mention what video card is being used. "My easy to use guide will show you how to unlock the 90hz cap on the As...

Does Freesync work on Windows 7 with Radeon graphics cards?

I know Nvidia limited Freesync on their cards to Windows 10 but I can't really find much about AMD. I saw a post that said WDDM 2.0 is required for Freesync to work which is only available on Windows 10. I currently only have Nvidia cards but would be interested in getting an AMD card to have Window...

Might be noticing a very brief Freesync artifact on Alienware aw2521hf

I know there are reports of the Alienware aw2521hf monitor having black outs with Freesync using an Nvidia graphics card but I have not experienced those with my setup. I have a 1050 ti, 8700k, and 32gb of ram. However, I have noticed something different that is hard to describe and I'm not sure if ...

Can't achieve a flat frame time graph in RTSS in many emulators with Freesync

I was under the impression that Freesync would "just work" with emulators (at least MAME and Retroarch) but, according to RTSS's frame time graph, that doesn't seem to be the case. In MAME for example, if I try the game Galaxian with RTSS's frame time graph enabled, there will be consistent, slight ...

Re: Eye strain problem

You should go and get your eyes checked. You probably need glasses prescribed. I see an optometrist about once a year and wear glasses. He's never found anything wrong. It makes sense to me that a higher contrast image would result in more eye fatigue, especially when browsing the internet. I guess...

Re: Eye strain problem

Does the new monitor have higher contrast? If yes, then it's normal that there appears to be "glow" when viewing black text on a bright background. Limited color range is producing a more "washed out" image on full range displays. In other words, it lowers contrast. I would recommend switching back...
