Re: 120hz and VRR

Last time I looked into this, the xbox only supported VRR at 60Hz. If you use 100Hz or 120Hz, it disables VRR. I thought they had changed that by now, but it seems not? If not, I don't think they'll ever implement that then. Maybe for the next xbox generation. It is kinda selfexplanatory, if you gi...

Re: New 120Hz Xbox One update (high refresh rate, Freesync)

Remember, this is a beta, and there are bugs -- give them slack. Submit a bug report via Xbox Insider. We welcome collaboration, they have been very accomodating of bug reports in the Reddit Xbox Insider Channel, and for that reason, please give them slack. Microsoft has an army of Software devs. W...

Re: New 120Hz Xbox One update (high refresh rate, Freesync)

If freesync is disabled at 120 hz, this option is then useless trash, as it still comes with tearing and doesnt take advantage of lower input lag of Freesync @ 120 Hz when displaying 60fps games.

Re: New 120Hz Xbox One update (high refresh rate, Freesync)

@RealNC- not sure about fighting games, but games where input lag matters, like COD (consoles), use a pretty well implemented adaptive vsync. So the benefits wont be as huge. I think the rather suboptimal net-code in most games on consoles will neutralize any latency reduction coming from display si...

Re: 120Hz reduces input lag of 30fps and 60fps!

But that will only work if games can be forced to output at 120 Hz. We know from the PC side that most games start in 60 Hz mode, then in the settings we can select 120/144 etc.

If the Xbox games ask the monitor to switch to 60 Hz, there will be zero advantages.

Re: 120Hz reduces input lag of 30fps and 60fps!

I mean its still an early implementation, we may see different results later. The next console gen will support HDMI 2.1 by default, which goes up to 4K 120 Hz + Freesync. I expect the Freesync feature to mature by then- in 1-2 years. Again COD ww2 runs 99% at locked 60 fps- with freesync enabled it...

Re: 120Hz reduces input lag of 30fps and 60fps!

I have tested Wolfenstein 2 on Xbox X yesterday. Theres a Demo of this game, so everyone can test it for free. In the game settings its possible to disable dynamic resolution. Then the game runs at native 4K with the framerate dropping to low 50s / high 40s. My Asus VP28UQ which has Freesync 1 suppo...

Re: Upcoming Monitors for Xbox One X

I had 2 4k monitors here, which boths support freesync 1 over HDMI- LG IPS monitor 27UD69, and Asus VP28UQ which is a TN monitor for use with ps4 pro/xbox 1 x. LG has total input lag of around 9.3ms, the Asus has total input lag of around 11.4 ms according to leo bodnar tester. However I really didn...

Re: 120Hz reduces input lag of 30fps and 60fps!

In best case scenario it would indeed cut a few dozen ms off input lag, we need to wait and see how ms implements this feature. If the games dont switch the Hz mode once u start them and can be forced to output at 120hz, we might see some input lag reduction. However 30fps usually gets doubled when ...

Re: New 120Hz Xbox One update (high refresh rate, Freesync)

The informations above might certainly be correct, assuming the Hz mode of the monitor doesnt switch to 60hz once the game starts. As far as i understand on pc its required to turn off vsync inside game’s settings (engine) in order to take advantage of freesync/gsync. We need to wait and see how 120...
