Re: JOLED to develop high-end OLED gaming monitors
mini-LED is basically local dimming for existing LCD's, it can improve contrast and brightness. Though a lot depends on the algorithm used by the display maker to make the most of the mini-LED system. There are some mini-LED laptops on the market and PC monitors for professional usage, also some pos...

Re: JOLED to develop high-end OLED gaming monitors
Those MicroLED displays from Samsung & LG cost a fortune, far beyond anything a regular person can afford and completely unsuitable for mass manufacturing. 10 years is a far more likely time frame for miniaturization of MicroLED and then mass manufacturing. HDTV-Test offers some insight on this but ...

Xbox One VRR Certified Games List
Here is a rather short list of officially VRR certified games on the Xbox One, while ideally VRR is supposed to be global and work on everything in a console environment it doesn't always, even some games with a regular 60fps vsync have issues. MS added a VRR section to the store under capabilities ...

Re: 2019 LG OLED TV's - 4K/120 Hz HDMI 2.1 with 120 Hz BFI
LG C9 TV's are now available to buy, a few people have already got them over on avsforums. Rtings have done a review of the C9 but could not measure the VRR range, the 9 series OLED's do not support Freesync only HDMI groups own VRR system. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c9-oled The LG C9 has ...

Re: FreeSync + audio bitstreaming?
There is no difference between multichannel PCM 7.1 and bitstreaming Dolby/DTS, TrueHD,DTS-HD other than logo lights up on the receiver. PCM is much more desirable as it works with all audio sources, many games and pieces of software have no audio bitstreaming features. Run the Windows speaker wizar...

Re: A FreeSync screen to make 30fps games bearable?
From my limited knowledge, what you want would require an evolution of the way Freesync/VRR currently works on Xbox, any others with better knowledge feel free to correct me. Freesync range on Xbox is not technically defined, most games as you know are capped at 30fps or 60fps, in addition adaptive-...

Re: Samsung Q series TVs
According to Rtings who have tested Freesync using Xbox One and a Radeon RX GPU the Freesync range for 2018 Samsung TV's is 2160p/4K = 48-60Hz 1080p = 20-120Hz As it stands officially Xbox only supports Freesync in the range of 40-60Hz which is common with a lot of 4K PC Freesync monitors currently ...

Samsung Freesync TV's
Rtings have reviewed some of Samsung TV's with Freesync active in firmware. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/q6fn On 120Hz panels; * 2160p/4K Freesync range is 48-60Hz * 1080p Freesync range is 20-120Hz An unusual thing is the 1440p output is limited to 120Hz, there is no 60Hz output. No me...

Re: New 120Hz Xbox One update (high refresh rate, Freesync)
Found it interesting that I have only seen one success story for achieving 1440p/120hz, and that's with the CHG70 when selecting 120hz via the monitor UI. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ucfEUmZxX8&t=1s Otherwise, everyone else currently seems to be limited to 1080p/120hz. Microsoft & Samsung have...
