Re: Severe ghosting issue on Dell SE2216H

I tried mixing options to find what gets me least ghosting, seems like nvidia full color range is worst trigger. Most ghosting appears when I use full range. Yeah colors looks worse but I cannot stand image trail that happens when I use it. Using limited color range (16..240) can improve response t...

Re: display that draws from the bottom to the top(!!)

Yeah. When it was just one no-name manufacturer I figured it was pure incompetence, but toshiba should know better, even if they aren't the pinnacle of display manufactures. Unless there's some reason to do it that way I can't guess...

Re: display that draws from the bottom to the top(!!)

I found a 2nd one that does this; this time from a mainstream manufacturer. Any idea why they would choose to do this?!?

Re: Optimization Hub for beginners

Similar to diakou's example of snowballing, NVIDIA also conducted a research about how minor latencies can snowball into something much bigger. I added it to this infograph: Another factor is latency volatility (and its related cousin: erratic stutter). Imagine true erratic randomization of latency...

Re: Optimization Hub for beginners

(2) Tests from an Arduino mouse-click simulator from 125Hz, 500Hz, and 1000Hz, show that click latency generally decreases at higher poll rates, assuming same-device poll-rate changes, at least on uncongested USB ports (no competition with other USB traffic). The Arduino-compatible simulates a clic...

Re: Optimization Hub for beginners

Having a reflex latency analyzer monitor, I can tell you that I am still having more success with debugging and identifying issues through feel and not the numbers I'm getting over 100+ samples (although it's so goddamn frustratingly long to do this with RLA as I don't have CSV file and have to ind...

Re: Optimization Hub for beginners

Human "feel" is way too open to bias. You need objective data to back it up. And as you've said click to photon tests are too laborious to get decent data. At least with a photodiode test you can be sure your monitor is performing at it's very best.

Re: Optimization Hub for beginners

A little bit of prejudice. I've seen way too many people claim "it doesn't matter" or "margin of error" when they see a sub 0.5ms difference while in reality it can completely alter motion perception since min/max is often impacted as well. So you'd rather use your intuition instead? I can't imagin...

I agree, actual professional grade high speed cameras (5 digit framerate) would be great but due to the absurd prices it just won't happen sadly.
sure. But why ignore the totally affordable single-pixel cameras that do run at that frame rate? Aka leo bodnar, piLagTesterPro, timeSlueth?

Re: Optimization Hub for beginners

While I agree that evidence based measurements are very important I also dislike the current approach of click to photon measurements. Sure. It's not great to have to hand-analyze a bunch of photos, and most people don't have the patience to do it enough times to get reliable numbers . At least for...
