Re: Regarding FPS > Hz

1. But the input lag at 60/60 fastsync is equal to regular double buffer Vsync, right? Or is there a hidden benefit? 2. I just tested 63fps, got a mismatch stutter as expected every now and then. But on 60, 60.1, 60.2, it was smooth, and I've been strafing & staring at a wall for a good few minutes...

Re: Regarding FPS > Hz

Technically it will still work, but it will look like trash If my memory serves my correctly, the outcome is long periods of smoothness followed by long periods of stutter. fast sync removes the tearing, but not the stutter caused by fps/hz mismatch. It will be visible in the form of skipped frames...

Re: Regarding FPS > Hz

from this thread: https://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?p=28576#p28576 So 70fps at 60Hz will have 1 tearlines for most refresh cycles, with occasional 2 tearlines on some, depending on where they line up. You can see the vertical distance between tearlines, and refresh cycles are simply an e...

Re: Regarding FPS > Hz

I was wondering the same and made a thread about it a while back Here is a detailed explanation from Chief Blurbuster https://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?p=35039#p35039 Yes I've read also this: https://blurbusters.com/faq/benefits-of-frame-rate-above-refresh-rate/ But wouldn't those extra ...

Regarding FPS > Hz

Usually I'm gaming either with very high FPS + no sync, or 60fps cap + no sync, and rarely 60fps + Vsync. So I've forgotten how having a slightly FPS > Hz looks like (Vsync off, of course). My LCD is 60hz. I found myself a wall (actually the whole room) that has a steady 70fps in Doom Eternal, and w...

Re: LCD from 2010 - RGB full or limted?

That's quite a lot of stuff, thanks. Mind you, this is an old TN panel, no backlight settings, might even be 6bit+FRC, also HDMI only, no DP...

Might try with a colorimeter.

Still, don't quite understand why contrast/gamma changes so much in RGB full, since it is a PC monitor after all.

Re: LCD from 2010 - RGB full or limted?

Eh, I'm disappointed this is happening from the get-go. It's an older LCD, but was quite costly for it's time. Will try to fiddle with GPU's color/gamma settings, which begs, what settings should I leave on the LCD itself? Factory default? The "standard" preset (which has the brightness quite low) a...

Re: LCD from 2010 - RGB full or limted?

In this situation, you have to make a compromise -- make your darks brighter by choosing a brighter gamma setting. This will wash out your bright colors but make dark colors easier to see, especially when you have lots of ambient lighting. That's the problem, I can't compensate the extreme darkenin...

LCD from 2010 - RGB full or limted?

Help me with an old peasant (but serviceable!) LCD please. I'll try to keep it tldr; - old 2010 Samsung TN LCD BX2231 - HDMI only, Nvidia control panel sees it as HDTV, known NV issue - tried 2 options: RGB full, YCbCr444 - both options increase perceived clarity/"cleanliness" of the screen - "AVS H...

Re: Explain this Vsync behavior please

Right, it's possible that something is overriding what you selected in game. Well, turning Vsync OFF really turns it off. BUT, I tested another game where DB Vsync really locks @ 30 and I found out that alt tabbing to desktop and back to game overrides DB and I'm guessing either starts Triple Buffe...
