Re: Overclocked IPS w/ DIY strobed backlight?
Couldn't more accurate overdrive help for this? At the moment overdrive is designed to give an average intensity over time, not to be strobed. With a fairly short pulse you can overdrive to hit the desired intensity just at the pulse, instead of storing the last frame as-is for the overdrive you'd n...

Re: BENQ XL2720Z 27" of goodness :) [and firmware bug]
Given they are a relatively low margin mainstream producer and the short product cycles it seems incredible they would do a recall over something this minor, it would wipe out their profits on the monitor and then some ... I assume the engineer who corresponded and gave out the firmware fix has had ...

Re: Eizo FG2421 -- [Turbo240 is EIZO equivalent of lightboos
Oops, seems I just don't understand the first thing about how LCDs work :/ I see a lot of references to all LCD panels using inversion on alternating frames swapping the polarity of the voltage for each pixel ... is that true? So LCDs are not actually sample and hold? In that case I don't see why yo...

Which panels can do negative voltage overdrive?
PS. maybe negative is the wrong word, lets say which panels can drive the pixels with bipolar voltages?

Re: Eizo FG2421
One of the reasons is that this is because strobe backlight monitors need to compress their gamut to produce some overdrive bounce margin, so they can do overdrive quicker and more cleanly in total darkness, before the strobe. If you eliminate overshoot space below black and above white, you will g...
