I found a PC with parallel port (and admin rights) and the update was successful! I had to flash it twice but then it worked and the service menu shows V002. :D

Thanks for all the help, without your pictures/guides I could never have done this! Actually I still can't believe that my DIY cable ...

I was able to build the DIY connector but I've got some problems with the Mstar ISP Tool. Maybe you guys can help me out again. :roll:

I tried this both on an old WinXP HP PC from 2002 (I don't have admin rights on that machine though - it's not my pc and the owner has los the password ...

thanks guys, the parts are ordered. I still have another basic question (sorry, novice): What exactly did you do with the ground pins? Are all just connected?
