Re: Blurbusting Technology Suggestion: Scanning Backlight

Looks like zowie might be doing a scanning backlight, let's hope it's engineered properly to not bleed much light between the segments

Re: nvLFCreset an experimental nvapi trayapp to prevent LFC sticking for gsync compatible monitors

Just upgraded to a 3090, and I'm happy to report that this workaround for sticking LFC is not needed anymore. It turns out the 1080ti had a really bad G-Sync compatible implementation. Using the 3090, LFC does not stick; it will only ever kick in if the framerate dips below your CRU minimum v-rate ...

Re: Hacked ASUS VG279QM modified to single-strobe 60 fps capped VRR for emulators

Hello, this aktually looks really interesting - the part where the VG279M got modified to single-trobe 60 fps. How ecacly was it done - I thing it involes some soldering an additional Hardware, right? By default, the VG279M can't do ELMB @60 hz at all. This is a hardware mod. involves soldering nor...

Re: OLED BFI Options?

Undetermined, but I can say implementations will be coming. In general, all 240Hz OLED BFI implementations will only work at 120Hz and under. This is just a limitation of the OLED refreshing backplane, requiring physical blacked-out refresh cycles, to work. OLEDs don't have a separate illumination ...

Re: Very bad news about VR. They're chosing HDR over motion quality

I can't believe they are pushing reprojection so hard on this headset instead of just using a lower refreshrate for me it totally ruins presence which imo is what VR is all about. It might be ok if sony had more advanced reprojection but it seems like they just use basic gen 1 rotation only reprojec...

You make some good points about the viability of using scanning backlights for blur reduction with current FALD tech, thanks. will be waiting for some flexible bfi oleds.

Re: Very bad news about VR. They're chosing HDR over motion quality

Good chance alot of games on the psvr2 are going against vr best practices using deferred rendering with taa and only running at half the framerate relying on reprojection which is supposed to be a safety net not a replacement for running native framerates.

Re: HOWTO: Quick Frame Transport (QFT) - Large Vertical Totals (reduce lag, reduce crosstalk)

Would it be possible to build a device to convert the HDMI signal of a 60fps console to a 60fps QFT (240fps output speed)? Yes, in theory (would have lag), so would serve only as crosstalk reduction. my strobed vg279qm does this on the scaler with a pretty big latency penalty, I can tell because of...

The guy that made it here. also a newer version with improved player reprojection.

EDIT: oh wow the improved reprojection is much better less jarring artifacts.
