Re: Forcing PC games to max refresh

Does anyone have any idea why certain games just don't work when disabling FSO on the .exe? Sekiro is one example, if I turn off FSO, it boots and straight away I get no signal at all. Never seen that happen. And just tried Sekiro with FSO disabled, no issues. So something is definitely broken ther...

It's almost like it's trying to put out a mode not in my EDID. Unfortunately I can't even determine what the game i...

Re: Forcing PC games to max refresh

Ill be honest, I dont normally experience games running at refresh rates lower than max... Maybe you have something setup wrong. All games should always run at max refresh. Most do, for sure. I've had several though that have required one of the above to get working. Off the top of my head, Sekiro ...

Forcing PC games to max refresh

So the Nvidia control panel setting 'Prefer max refresh' is now somewhat unreliable due to being not applicable for Windows Fullscreen Optimisations games and a few games will default to 60Hz. My display uses different processing for 60Hz and 120Hz modes, with 120Hz being superior with less processi...

Windows 10 Fullscreen Optimisations is... weird

Doing a bit of experimentation with a selection of games set to Fullscreen Exclusive it seems like there are multiple types; 1. Games that fully run in FSO mode. Alt-tabbing is fast like borderless, overlays work etc. 2. Games that appear to run Fullscreen Exclusive and then quickly switch to FSO wh...

Re: Inverse ghosting and TV game modes

Would it be unreasonable to expect absolutely zero inverse ghosting on a display in game mode where input lag is the priority? I think this is a VA panel? VA panels are popular with TVs due to their contrast ratios. Very bad pixel response in dark colors is a notorious issue with VA, and thus stron...

Inverse ghosting and TV game modes

I recently upgraded my 1080p Sony TV which spent a lot of its time gaming at 60fps with BFI enabled, to a Samsung Q90R 4K HDR display, Samsung's flagship 4K TV. I noticed fairly early on that under very specific circumstances I could see some faint purplish ghosting coming from game geometry when pa...

Re: Can strobing/BFI be used in conjunction with HDR?

Wouldn't strobing at 60Hz with HDR be very hard on the eyes? OLED TVs would simply interpolate, like they do now. OLED monitors could play with high refresh and BFI. For example a monitor could take a 60Hz input and output in 180Hz where the first two scanouts use the input frame and the last scano...

Wouldn't strobing at 60Hz with HDR be very hard on the eyes?

Are there any TVs currently that support low latency BFI AND HDR at a suitable nit?
