Re: HOWTO: Using ULMB Beautifully or Competitively

Excellent post, thank you. If I can drive 400 FPS in Overwatch and have a 240hz monitor w/ ULMb it sounds like I should either cap the game to 240 frames (frame rate = hz) or run 400 fps uncapped. If I cap to 240 and fps never dips below, do I still need to run Vsync? Or because I can keep consiste...

Re: Is TN always the king ?!

OLED seems to be better than both and they will release the higher refresh rate stuff soon. It already made its way into laptops.

Re: ASUS ROG Swift 500Hz Announced!

Damn, such a refresh rate would obviously be very difficult to achieve without interpolation. Oh yeah, why is everyone promoting 1000 hz? It seems like in order to make the display completely clear of blur, its frequency should be 2-4 times higher than its horizontal resolution (correct me ...

Re: Even rendering 1/4 of the pixels looks decent if you just black out the other pixels

Part of the motivation of making the post is that the interlaced version already looks good at 60 FPS. That is, until you scroll vertically and it's missing details. I'm guessing it's showing the details based on the exact pixel, but the location of the UFO moved so you show the alternating pixels -...

Is overdrive on? That usually improves it at the cost of overshoot

Re: How to remove flickering of objects smaller than the display pixel size?

But the question is how to remove this, other than the option of buying a display with a higher ppi? It's called "subpixel shimmering," and the only thing that can mitigate it is certain forms of TAA and legacy SGSSAA (the latter of which no longer works with most modern games now that they're defe...

Re: CRT-like Emulation on Low Persistence display?

It certainly would produce usable high-framerate, low-latency, low-persistence. Ok, now we're on the same page. :) The 450Hz equivalent would be 7.5 times more rapid than this running at 60Hz, or 3.75 times more rapid than this running at 120Hz. This "6-way interlace" that you show in your incredib...

Re: CRT-like Emulation on Low Persistence display?

Alas, there are nasty temporal motion artifacts caused by interlacing, including 3-way interlacing and 4-way interlacing. I added some undocumented adjustments (&eastergg=1) to the www.testufo.com -> Tests -> Interlace animation to demonstrate this, from a motion artifacts perspective. The temporal...

Re: Why Can't/Don't OLED's have short light times?

Some OLEDs can't turn on as fast, so they have dark smear because when the pixels are completely off they take too long to come back on. Of course these days it doesn't seem to be as much of an issue, as BFI is offered with OLED TVs

I just want my high refresh OLED monitor!
