Re: internet latency

A udp ping is not some mystical tool its easily within the reach of someone with a moderate aptitude for computers. It shouldn't be compared to buying and using high end monitor measurement tools. It's not in the same realm whatsoever. I guess spending anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depe...

Re: internet latency

Edit: you know what I'm a little frustrated by this thread. You are right chief there are multiple ways and it doesn't help to get hot and I'm sorry. I still would personally advocate to do some testing. It seems like the OP is in a situation where it is at least somewhat involved to hop isps. And y...

Re: internet latency

And you missed when i distinguished between 3rd party tools in my statement a while ago. It was only like 2 sentences in that post. Please read and comprehend. Also you say there is no point to measuring now. The point of measuring is to KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. But I guess your advice is just to a...

it can be within the packet data and client software. or the first google search of "udp ping" offers a tool. tools are built into other software as well

Re: internet latency

A test within the games protocol to the games server WILL show delay or packet loss. hence why I specified the distniction between 3rd party tools in my post right before the wall of text that apperently missed those few words in my short post. reading comperhension is not the best... The point is t...

Re: internet latency

I personally have never EVER experienced this. EVERY time I experience any form of network lag it directly correlates to ping time fluctuations. You may have to let the pings run for 10 minutes to see the spikes but they should show up. It is possible that ping packets get priority or are small eno...

Re: internet latency

it could be other players connection lagging or it could be the server hardware lagging.

Re: internet latency

there is also packet loss. essentially leading to spikes in latency. use a command promt and run ping google.com -n 6000 hit ctrl+c when you are done watching it. you may get consistent pings most of the time but still randomly get more latency or dropped packets. Network congestion and internet pe...
