Re: Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

I fiddled with custom resolutions and couldn't create a 120hz mode that had crosstalk performance similar to 100hz mode. However, I did switch back to "119hz" as presented in Windows, and then went to https://www.testufo.com/refreshrate to see what was reported. It gave an even 120hz with no decimal...

Re: Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

Decided to bite the bullet and just ordered the monitor. For use outside of PureXP I don't expect a huge leap for high refresh rate performance relative to the PG279Q I have, but tests show the XG270 has lower motion blur at lower refresh rates, and even if PureXP isn't CRT perfect (according to th...

Re: Asus XG279Q with ELMB-Sync

In their review, they noted that the backlight stays in sync with the refresh rate and the brightness of the backlight is dynamically adjusted to maintain visually similar brightness in the vrr window. Their biggest elmb sync complaint is the overdrive is fixed at a value that looks great at 200hz+,...

XG270 IPS strobe, 100 Hz, close to screen centre 100hz-capture.png XG270 IPS strobe, 120 Hz, close to screen centre 120hz-capture.png These are pretty good results, IMO. On my pg279q, the same UFO test shows two trailing images - one is about half brightness and semi-transparent with the background...

Re: Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

It looks like in that video he does a pretty good job of demonstrating what IPS glow is and how to reduce your perception of it. A lot of the tricks I already knew (play in a well lit room, sit as far away from the monitor you can tolerate, light behind the monitor also helps) he goes over and show...

Re: Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

1. I've read about IPS glow and I'm a bit concerned about how it might affect dark room viewing. I know I shouldn't be using over-exposed photos to judge how it will look in person but this still bites at me. I did see this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TlOliiiwi8 which has given me a few ...

Re: Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

Based on what I see on YouTube, it looks like viewsonic is sending the qg model out for promotional / impression / review purposes. I don't think I've seen a video or impression for this particular model yet, so I'm really hoping rtings picks it up. They have some weaknesses specifically when it com...

Re: Viewsonic XG270 with 'PureXP" MBR [pre-tuned by Blur Busters!]

A few weeks later and I'm still loving this thing. Games that are locked to 60fps started getting on my nerves, though (looking at you, Halo: Reach). I'd go crazy for some kind of black frame insertion in those situations. I saw a software-based black frame insertion solution somewhere on the board...
